Grandin Road Parade

A few shots of the Woodrow Wilson Middle School band from the Grandin Road Christmas Parade this past Saturday morning (Roanoke VA). Metal instruments on a bright sunny day always inspires an HDR composite or two. Our son Caleb plays the saxophone in the band and can be found among the red-hat-wearing brass brigade.

Admittedly, it took a while to personally appreciate the benefits of HDR processing. The more I learn, the more I find it to be an invaluable tool for creative expression. These are single exposures processed initially with HDRsoft PhotomatixPro and finished by way of Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw.

By the way, we’re giving away a new (or extending an existing) one-year subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan every week through January over at Photofocus. Click here to learn how to get your name in the hat.
