Ballyhack Golf Retreat, Roanoke VA
Ballyhack Golf Club is a Scottish links-style course completed in 2008 and located in the hills just outside of Roanoke VA in the community of Mount Pleasant. Affectionately known as the Hack, this Lester George creation, overseen and maintained by superintendent Billy Bobbitt, boasts a slope rating exceeding 600 feet and is likely the closest relative to a ‘fantasy golf’ course in the region.
Unique in the region by way of its bent grass fairways and greens, Ballyhack resides hundreds of challenging bunkers with a narrow short fescue rough and daunting tall fescue native grasses that are not forgiving in the least.
If golf is your thing, you have to give the Hack a try.. The course currently has lots for sale, and golfers may call ahead to lease an on-course villa for an extended stay at a package rate. Or, stop by and schedule a tee-time at your leisure. Whichever you prefer, be sure to bring along plenty of extra balls!
